Facebook is preparing to publish music clips. As of August, there will be no license restrictions on music on Facebook.
Facebook music videos license measure
YouTube, the world’s largest online video platform, has become a monopoly especially in music videos. When we look at the most watched videos on the platform, we see that most of them are clips.
Facebook will demolish YouTube’s monopoly on this subject with the license it has received for music clips. On the Facebook Watch platform, it is aimed to watch popular music videos and users who like to watch videos turn to this platform.
In the current situation, Facebook users cannot upload music clips to the platform. Some of these clips can be cut and shared due to relevant license restrictions. YouTube links of clips should also be included in this post due to related copyright issues. In order to avoid this problem, Facebook held talks with the giant names of this industry in 2019 such as Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group.
Facebook, which has succeeded in solving the license problems in this regard, makes it possible for artists to share their clips on Facebook. Thus, competition is expected to increase in the sector where YouTube has become a monopoly.
