The data of Facebook users appeared in Vietnam. The data leak, belonging to about 12 million accounts and including personal data, made a big noise.
Facebook users’ data exposed
Facebook, which still has a reliability problem with the Cambridge Analytica scandal where 267 million users were leaking data, was once again brought to the agenda with a data leak. This time it is stated that the data leakage occurred in Vietnam.
Personal data from 12 million accounts on Facebook were found on a server in Vietnam. It was stated that these data included personal data such as user names, birth places, GPS coordinates.
It is stated that this data on the Elasticsearch server has been compromised by violations against Vietnamese users. It is not yet known who and how this data of about 3 GB has been captured. However, since the data is in the personal data category, cybercriminals are also thought to be able to blackmail this data.
Facebook acted quickly on this issue and closed the server with the data. The fact that Facebook, which is often brought up with data breaches, has come to the fore with such a problem in Vietnam has gathered a big reaction.
