Google Maps with the newly added feature will show forest fires. This display will be done in real time by Google Maps.
Updating Google Maps for forest fires
Continuously making improvements in Google Maps, Google is working for a quite different feature this time around. The new feature added to Google Maps is entirely based on forest fires.
With this feature, users will be able to get information about the status of forest fires in the regions they want. In the Google Maps application, forest fires will be displayed in real time. Moreover, the boundaries of this fire will be clearly indicated for the application.
The data to be provided by 4 GOES satellites will be analyzed by Google Earth Engine and displayed on the map. The satellites cannot pinpoint these fires. However, with the infrared and optical sensors on the satellites, it detects the smoke produced by the flames and makes a mark for the relevant region.
Fires on the application will be renewed every hour and updated information will be provided to users. It is not yet known when the feature, which is currently available in the USA, will be used in other countries.
