Huawei built a smart road for driverless vehicles. This road can interact with self-driving vehicles.
Huawei smart road features
For a fully autonomous journey, today vehicles are equipped with high technology, and roads must adapt to this. Huawei has carried out an innovative work in this area.
Developing a 4 km long smart road, Huawei built this road in the city of Wuxi in China. Basically, this road is collecting data on vehicles. For example, during the passage of a fully autonomous bus, movements such as crossing obstacles, accelerating and slowing down, stopping are collected through a smart road. Sensors, traffic lights, signs, cameras and radar on the road transmit information so that the autonomous vehicle can move safely. In other words, the smart road and autonomous vehicle communicate with each other and offer the opportunity to travel.
Jiang Wangcheng, one of Huawei’s top executives, says autonomous driving is an irresistible trend, but vehicles alone cannot achieve this. Wangcheng emphasizes that smart ways are therefore essential. This technology of Huawei, which is currently in the testing phase, is expected to become widespread in the future.
