Google Play Store is innovating in-app purchase rules. In this way, in-app purchases will be tracked more closely.
Play Store takes action for in-app purchases
Google plans to follow Apple’s footsteps in in-app purchases and will tighten the process for the Play Store. According to the report shared by Bloomberg, Google is preparing to publish new guidelines.
Despite having similar rules to Apple’s, Play Store did not strictly enforce these rules. For example, despite the 30 percent commission on in-app purchases in the Play Store, like Apple, many developers, including Match Gruop, bypassed this system. The developers believe that this income from app stores is unfair. Google will now intervene in this situation and begin to receive commissions.
This move, which will put developers in a difficult situation, is expected to receive an intense reaction. Epic Games, with a coalition of 13 co-founders, including Spotify, opposes Apple’s in-app purchases. The target of this coalition may now include the Google Play Store. Therefore, it seems that Apple and Google will have to act together in the purchasing strategy for the application.
