Nowadays, taking quality photos depends on the features of the device as well as talent. For this purpose, Sony and Microsoft cooperated and signed the IMX500 sensor.
Artificial intelligence-oriented Sony and Microsoft collaboration
Taking quality photos is no longer just about the person and the hardware. Software studies in recent years directly affect the quality of photographs.
Sony is doing important future studies on this subject. For this purpose, Sony used Microsoft’s Azure AI structure. With this collaboration that brings the hardware together with artificial intelligence, Sony has announced the world’s first AI-supported image sensor.
In the Sony IMX500 and Sony IMX501 mobile image sensors, which do not need an external artificial intelligence unit, artificial intelligence is directly integrated into the sensor. Moreover, this sensor can process the related algorithm in a very short time like 1 second. In other image sensors, this time was up to 3.1 seconds.
Announced with the $93 price tag, the IMX500 series will be released in 2021. It is also stated that this series was developed to be supplied to corporate customers.
