Collaboration was made between TikTok, the fastest growing social media platform in recent years, and Walmart, the largest retail giant in the USA. With this collaboration, product sales will be tested on live broadcast.
TikTok has been working on product sales on live broadcast for a while, considering putting its large user base on the new revenue model. TikTok has reached an agreement with Walmart for this new business model. Within the scope of the agreement, a 1-hour live broadcast will be made with 10 popular TikTok users. These users will promote their favorite products at Walmart.
TikTok has been working on development for shopping on the platform for a while. With the shop now button, TikTok directs the users to the relevant web page of the brand so that they can purchase the products they see on TikTok. In the new global-scale model, TikTok aims to sell through TikTok Live. Blake Chandlee, one of the executives of TikTok, says they aim to help users discover and get to know the brands they love better.
