YouTube, the world’s most popular free video viewing platform, offers its users the Shorts feature, which it developed as a rival to TikTok. The company will begin to open Shorts’ early beta to users in India this week.
After TikTok, the short video sharing application of the Chinese company ByteDance attracted the attention of young people around the world and gained popularity, other technology giants also lined up to grab a share of this cake and compete with TikTok.
Facebook was the first company to operate in this regard, just like Snapchat’s Stories feature. The social media giant has adapted Snapchat’s hugely popular Stories feature to Instaram. The company also offered the Instagram Reels feature to its users. Another technology giant that will offer a similar feature to its users is Google.
YouTube Shorts are coming
YouTube Shorts is a feature that allows users to capture 15-second videos from mobile devices. In YouTube Shorts, multiple video clips can be sorted, music can be recorded and adjustments can be made on video speed. There’s also a stopwatch and countdown so users can shoot hands-free videos.
The tech giant recently added lines to its home page for short videos. By scrolling vertically, users will be able to switch from one video to another, just like TikTok and Instagram Reels.
YouTube also announced that they will make it easier to watch Shorts videos. The company will begin rolling out the early beta of the YouTube Shorts feature, which will rival TikTok and Instagram Reels, to users in India in the next few days.
